Log Begins

Biology:

Dispite loss of thousands of dollars in equipment, little is known about Great Owl biology. This isnt to say that al research efforts have been in vain however, as we have recorded the Owls Signature "Bell Call" as well as a hiss similar to a common barn owl. It is unclear how they make thier calls.

Diet:

The Complete diet of the Rocky Mountain Great Owl in Unkown, but thry will eat Humans, livestock and small creatures. One of the early warning signs of a great owl family living in the area is a lack of birds or small creatures as well as livestock going missing.

Behavior:

Rocky Mountain Great Owls are nocturnal, and sleep in 2-4 hour segments in thier nests during the day. have only been discovered to build thier nests in one of two locations; within abandoned homes, or in abanded mineshafts. Nesting atop a home will usually result in the roof caving in. Watch out for 1 story homes colapsed roofs when the traveling through abandoned towns of the Rocky Mountains.
Additionally, the great owl will hiss when threatened. due its large size, the great owl's hiss will sound more similar to the wind. It is unclear why Rocky Mountain Great Owl will make its singature "bell" noise, but we speculate this is to mimic the church or school belll of small towns in the Rocky Mountains.

Saftey:

While attacks from a Rocky Mountain Great Owl aren't common, they are almost certainly lethal. It is important to take the upmost caution while within the Rocky Mountains. It is heavily recomended to carry a weapon chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm) or greater. Weapons should only be fired in an emergancy as Rocky Mountain Owls are attracted to loud noises.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO NOT carry any bells or any item that makes louds noises, like pans unless it is ABSOLUTLEY NECESSARY. Rocky Mountain Great Owls have a strong attraction to unnatural noises.
